Join us for a FREE homemade two-course meal to welcome you to Bristol; meet new people and make friends. Meals are served at BISC between 6.30pm-8.30pm, on a first come, first served basis, on: Fri 13th, Sat 14th, Mon 16th, Tues 17th, Wed 18th, Thurs 19th, Fri 20th, Sat 21st, Mon 23rd and Tues 24th September.Your first meal is FREE, then just £2 thereafter. No need to book!

Guided Walk: Bristol and Its History

Explore a city rich in history and diverse in culture with local guide John Watson! The first of a number of walks exploring themes ranging from Banksy, the famous street artist; to Brunel, the reckless engineer; to the Abolitionist Movement!! Costs £3. BOOK SOON!!


Afternoon Tea: with a Difference

Enjoy a special Afternoon Tea in true British style! Local host Liz Timms and friends invite you to a beautiful venue to enjoy a selection of freshly made cakes and sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and a selection of teas and coffee. Leave from BISC at 2.30pm, return by 5.15pm. Costs £3. Limited places!

Join UoB CU students and hear stories of faith through the eyes of international Christian students. BISC @ WBAT: The Art’s Trail Experience

Friday 18 - Sunday 20 October @ All Saints, BS8 3ED

The West Bristol Arts Trail (WBAT) is an annual public event showcasing the work of artists living in Clifton and surrounding areas. View the work of 100 artists in 50 venues from 18th-20th Oct and join BISC as we help host an art show at All Saints Church, BS8 3ED. Volunteer or simply come as a guest. Preview on Friday 6-8pm. Open Sat & Sun, 11am - 5pm. FREE ENTRY, with cake and tea for sale! No need to book!

London: An Introduction

Saturday 19 October

Our first trip of the term takes us into the heart of England’s capital city. In the morning there is a sightseeing coach tour with a professional guide. In the afternoon - free time to explore London! Leave BISC at 7am, UWE at 7.15am, return by 9.30pm. Costs £29. BOOK SOON!


A Taste of the UK

Learn about British Culture, meet British people and sample delicious UK food to get A Taste of the UK. The evening includes a cooked meal, soft drinks and light entertainment. Enjoy good fun in a relaxed atmosphere. Hosted at Emmanuel Meeting House, BS1 2NN.

Arts & Craft Afternoon

Have fun as we revive the Arts & Crafts movement in the BISC lounge. Try your hand at the art of painting and drawing; or learn all about creating beautiful objects with fabric, felted wool, stitchwork and knitting. Food & Discussion Forum: Women in the Bible

Explore with us the place of Women in the Bible and what that means for men and women today. Join in the dicussion as Dr Lucy Peppiatt, outstanding scholar, author and principal of Westminster Theological Centre, explores these issues over dinner. Two-course meal provided. Windsor Castle

Saturday 9 November

Windsor Castle, an official residence of The Queen, is the oldest occupied castle in the world (900 years of British history). Visit the State Apartments, Queen Mary’s Doll’s House, St. George’s Chapel and more. Leave BISC at 8.30am, UWE at 8.45am, return by 8pm. Costs of £33 includes admission and coach fare. BOOK EARLY!!!

A Night at the Theatre: The Lion King

Wednesday 13 November

Set against the majestic beauty of the Serengeti Plains, this spectacular theatrical experience explodes with glorious colours, stunning effects and enchanting music. Tickets cost £20.50 (usually £37). Show starts: 7.30pm with pre-show drinks at 6.15pm in the Piano Bar at The Hippodrome. Alternatively, simply arrive in time for the show. BOOK SOON!!

Christmas Dinner

Cardiff Castle & Big Pit

Saturday 7 December

Experience South Wales at its best with a morning visit to the Big Pit - The National Coal Museum of Wales; and an afternoon visit to the elaborately decorated Cardiff Castle, plus free time to explore the capital city. Leave BISC 8.00am, UWE 8.15am, return by 7pm. Costs £30 and includes all entry fees and return coach fare. BOOK SOON!!


Term Programme

Each term BISC arranges a programme of events and activities for international students in Bristol to enjoy. We believe that it is important to take a break from your studies to explore the country that you are studying in and BISC provides the perfect opportunity to explore historic cities and places of interest, as well as promoting cross cultural understanding and exchange through weekly events and cultural evenings.

Our trips and events are open to all international students studying at any of Bristol's Universities, colleges or language schools. Whilst we do invite others to join in our events (including husbands/wives, visiting family or friends of international students), priority is always given to international students studying in Bristol.

Our trips are also very popular, so booking early is highly recommended. If you book on-line, you will receive an email to confirm your booking. You must pay within 7 days of booking to confirm your place or we may offer it to someone else. We accept cash or cheque only. You can pay at the BISC office (Mon-Fri between 1-5pm) or The Octagon, Community Hub on Frenchay Campus (Thur 12-2pm - only if student has booked online by the day before). During the last week before an event, all tickets become available and are sold on a first come, first served basis.

Weekly Events

During university term time, BISC hosts a Monday tea, Wednesday lunch and Friday lunch at the BISC Centre.
