Do you have questions about life? Or are you a Christian hoping to deepen your faith? This is the perfect place for both. Come along on a Friday lunchtime to chat about faith, life and the Bible. We’ll discuss Jesus’s life, what we’re doing here and any other questions we’ve got!

Farewell BBQ (Final Wednesday Lunch)

Join us for the last Wednesday Lunch of this academic year. If you’re going home, this is the perfect opportunity to come into BISC and say goodbye. We’ve met so many amazing people this year! It’s been a privilege to get to know you all, and we’d love to see you one last time if you’re leaving Bristol.

We’re going to be having BBQ food for our final Wednesday lunch and enjoying it out in the garden. Come along for the last BISC meal until September!

Sustainable Market

Join us for a special event where you exchange your unwanted items with other students.

We’ll be serving hot dogs and citrus tea while you browse.

Come to BISC with an item to swap for someone else’s. Maybe you’re tired of your green jumper, you’ve already read that book, or you have one too many plants. Bring it with you and then you can find something different to take home! Please note: You’ll need to bring something to get into the event! (Please check below for accepted items*)

Trip to Clevedon

Join us on a trip to the nearby town of Clevedon!

Clevedon is on the river between England and Wales. It has a long Victorian pier which you can walk down to see across the channel. The town used to be a seaside resort in the Victorian period (around 200 years ago) and is well worth a visit.

Clevedon has easy links to Bristol and is a fun day trip! Our trip will be free, but you'll need to bring money for transport and any food that you want to buy.

We'll be meeting at 10.20 at Bay 12, Bristol Bus Station. The bus leaves at 10.30am so don't be late!

Games & Pizza Night

Join us for an evening of pizza and games - all for just £2.50!

Playing games is a great way to take your mind off essays, chat to people and have fun. We'll provide different pizzas, hot drinks and, of course, games! Depending on student numbers, our games include:

- Empires (guessing mystery game)
- Pitt (fast-action, trading card game)
- The Great Dalmuti (tactical card game)
- Ticket to Ride (strategy board game)
- Jenga (pile the bricks without toppling the tower!)

Pancake Night (with UoB Christian Union)

The University of Bristol Christian Union are running a pancake night at BISC!

Come along on the 13th Feb to eat pancakes, chat to other students and learn why this annual tradition of eating pancakes on a Tuesday is so important to Christians.

This event is free and has no tickets. Just turn up at 7.30pm. (However, if you’re late, there may not be space!)

Lunar New Year Celebration

Join us for a celebration of the Lunar New Year - with handmade jiaozi, yuzu tea, chicken/tofu stew, red bean soup and loads more food, red envelopes and sparklers!

BISC is holding an evening of fun, food and oriental culture to celebrate the Year of the Dragon. There’s going to be food from around the world!

Lunar New Year Eve is a very important family reunion night for most of the students from East or South East Asia. BISC is always the home away from home for international students. We would like to invite everyone to the BISC family's celebration to greet the new year with oriental blessings.

Come in at Lunar New Year eve and join us for authentic dishes,  prize giving and local traditions.

The Alpha Course

BISC are taking a group of international students along to Woodlands Church’s Alpha Course.

This is a FREE 10-week course about the Christian faith running on Wednesday evenings (7.30-9.30pm).

Every evening will begin with a free hot meal and cake. Then we will hear a short talk about one aspect of the Christian faith - for example "Who is Jesus?". After this, you'll have time to discuss your views, experiences and ask any questions you have in your small group.

The small groups will only be other people from BISC so please don't worry about your English! This is the perfect place to learn why Christians - and the team at BISC - find Christmas and Easter so important.

Christmas Trip to Wells

Join us on a day trip to the historic city of Wells. Please make sure you're at the Bus Station at least 10 minutes before the bus leaves (we’ll email you the time)!

Wells is a small, traditional city near to Bristol. It's full of old architecture, and a beautiful cathedral. At Christmas, there’s a market on the old streets, selling hot drinks and food and more! It’s a very historic place, and well worth a visit.

Our trip is free, but you'll need to bring money for transport and anything that you want to buy. It will take around an hour on the bus. You can buy your ticket on the bus and it will cost around £4.

Christmas celebration!

Christmas is the UK’s biggest celebration. Come and enjoy a traditional two-course meal with all the ‘trimmings’ (extra little bits like bread sauce, sprouts, gravy and stuffing) as well as traditional puddings, chocolates and non-alcoholic mulled wine. You might catch sight of Santa, and you’ll learn why Christmas is so special for Christians. Let’s celebrate together!

We want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and hope that you have enjoyed your time in Bristol so far.

Christmas Card Crafts

Around this time of year, it's traditional for families to send each other Christmas cards. It's a chance to share news, send love and catch up with old friends. At BISC, we'll be making some cards using our own materials. It's a fun and relaxing activity.

We'll provide you with some hot drinks and Christmassy snacks. The evenings are dark, but come and spend some time with others, chatting, learning and crafting!

Ashton Court Christmas Fair

Join us on a trip to Ashton Court Craft Fair, where Bristol makers and local artisan crafters will sell their handmade crafts. Our group will meet at the Suspension Bridge and walk to the fair together. Ashton court Mansion House is famous for its beautiful architecture, Georgian interior and huge deer park.

The craft fair will include handmade gifts - prints, cards, artwork, ceramics, jewellery, cushions, glassware, soaps, woodcraft, knits, clothes. Christmas wreathes, decorations - food and drink and much more. All stalls will be inside the mansion house rooms so don't worry too much about rain. There will also be a Christmas Cafe will be serving teas, coffees, cakes and mince pies.

Our trip will be free, but you'll need to bring money for the entry fee (£2) and anything that you want to buy.

Trip to Bath

Join us on a trip to the nearby city of Bath. (Bus fare only)

Bath is a famous British city. It was named 'Bath' because of its natural hot springs. There's lots of old architecture (even from Roman times!) so it's a popular place for movies to be filmed. Some streets haven't really changed for over 200 years so it's a great place to take photos. There is a Jane Austen museum, the Roman Baths, an abbey, lots of independent shops and much more! Our volunteers, Kim and Chris, will take you on a walking tour when you get there.

It takes less than an hour on the bus and a return student ticket should cost less than £5.

Our ticket will be free, but you'll need to bring money for transport and any food that you want to buy.

Lunch at Kensington Church

Join us for a free lunch at a lively and diverse church in a very multicultural part of Bristol.

Come along to experience a special lunch at a Bristolian church, where many different languages and cultures mix together to make a unique family. This is a great chance to chat to locals about Bristol, church and living in the UK. Many people will understand what it is like to live in a foreign country, and everyone will want to welcome you to Bristol!

  • If you're interested in joining the Sunday service and meeting local families first, come at 11am.

Ice-cream night

Who loves ice-cream?! Join us as we head to one of Bristol’s finest ice cream parlours and sample the different flavours. Everyone will get one free scoop of ice-cream plus a 10% discount when they come with us. Come and enjoy this West Country speciality, make new friends and spend an evening together with the perfect snack.

Meeting at BISC at 5.30pm, we will then walk together to Kaspa's on Park Street.

Bus Trip to Chepstow

Travel with us by green electric bus from Bristol (£7.50 return) over the Severn Bridge to the Welsh market town of Chepstow. Visit the famous Norman Castle (student cost £6.10), follow one of the town trails or walk over the 100 meter Old Wye Bridge back into England! We won't charge, but you'll need to pay for your own transport / castle entry.

We're hosting an evening picnic at BISC!

We’re going to provide a spread of delicious food to eat - just grab a ticket and turn up. This event is a chance to relax, chat with friends, meet new people and enjoy our beautiful garden. We’ll have special outdoor games to play as well as a spread of food and drink.

Coronation BBQ in Severn Beach

We're joining Emmaus Church in Severn Beach for a free BBQ to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III!

Severn Beach is the place where you can see the bridge across to Wales. As well as celebrating the coronation and eating great food, it's a wonderful chance to get out of Bristol and see a completely new place.

  • If you want to join the service before the lunch, we will take you by car at 9.45am.

  • If you want to just join the lunch, you will need to buy a 12pm train ticket from Clifton Down Station to Severn Beach. (It will cost under £5 and you pay on the train).

Tickets are free, but you may need to pay for transport.

BISC are hosting a cream tea to celebrate the coronation of the new king! Expect scones, jam, cream, sandwiches and English tea. Come along and sample the UK’s most traditional dish, meet other people and learn about the UK royal family, including the crowning ceremony of King Charles III.

Wednesday Chill-out Space

Drop in to our centre (45 Woodland Rd) any time between 2-4pm on Wednesdays in May to help yourself de-stress.

It's important to remember your health when you're studying hard! Sometimes we just need to take a break to refresh ourselves and get some perspective.

We’ll have materials to help you de-stress as well as tips for revising and keeping a good study/life balance. You can chat to our volunteers if you're struggling, and there will be free tea, coffee & snacks.

Don't forget that being healthy and happy is just as important as university results!

Of course, this ‘event’ is completely free.
